What to Wear to the Tulsa State Fair: Your Guide to Fall Fashion & Fair Fun

Fall in Tulsa means cooler weather, changing leaves, football, and one of our favorite Oklahoma traditions: the Tulsa State Fair! From October 1 through October 11, 2026, the fair is bringing 11 days of rides, food, live entertainment, shopping, exhibits, and plenty of fall fun to Expo Square in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

And while we love a good funnel cake and a spin on the Ferris wheel, we also think the Tulsa State Fair is the perfect excuse to put together a cute fall outfit.

If you're planning a day at the fair and wondering what to wear to the Tulsa State Fair, we've got you covered.

The Tulsa State Fair Is Back in Tulsa, Oklahoma

The Tulsa State Fair is one of the biggest fall events in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and there is something happening throughout all 11 days of the fair.

Of course, there are the classic carnival rides and midway attractions. But the fair also features live music, animal attractions, entertainment shows, competitive exhibits, shopping vendors, and plenty of fair food.

Some of the featured attractions this year include Sea Lion Splash, Stunt Dog Show Productions, Roaring Riptide Live, Inspyral Circus, Amazing Giant Sway Poles, Wheels of Agriculture, and more. Disney On Ice is also coming to the fair October 1–4.

Whether you're going with your family, meeting friends, going on a date, or making a full day of it, the Tulsa State Fair is one of those fall traditions that makes the season feel official.

Don't Go to the Fair Without Trying the Food

Let's be honest: one of the biggest reasons to go to the state fair is the food.

The Tulsa State Fair is known for classic fair favorites along with creative new food combinations. Think corn dogs, turkey legs, funnel cakes, lemonade, fried treats, sweet treats, savory bites, and plenty of foods you probably wouldn't make at home.

The fair's Awesome Eats Food Competition highlights savory dishes, sweet treats, state fair drinks, and traditional fair foods. This year's competition even includes a special Traditional Fare category celebrating classic fairground favorites.

So come hungry!

Rides, Shows & Things to Do

If rides are your favorite part of the Tulsa State Fair, you'll have plenty to choose from. The midway brings the classic fair experience with rides and attractions for thrill seekers and families alike.

Beyond the rides, the fair has entertainment happening throughout the grounds. You can catch animal shows, circus-style performances, live music, interactive attractions, agricultural exhibits, and more.

There are also plenty of opportunities to explore Oklahoma agriculture and local creativity through 4-H, FFA, photography, culinary, pumpkin, hand arts, and fine arts exhibits.

The fair is more than just a carnival. It's a celebration of Oklahoma culture, entertainment, food, shopping, and community.

What to Wear to the Tulsa State Fair

Now for the important part: what should you wear to the fair?

A day at the Tulsa State Fair usually means lots of walking, outdoor time, rides, food, and plenty of photo opportunities. That means your ideal fall fair outfit needs to be cute AND comfortable.

Start With Comfortable Shoes

This is not the day to break in a brand-new pair of shoes.

Since you'll likely be walking around the fairgrounds for hours, comfortable shoes are a must. Back 70 sneakers, comfortable flats, casual boots, or other shoes you already know you can walk in are all great choices.

For a trendy fall fashion look, pair retro-inspired sneakers with straight-leg jeans and a cozy sweater. Or choose a pair of Western-inspired boots for an easy Oklahoma fall outfit.

Bring a Layer

October weather in Tulsa, Oklahoma can change throughout the day, so layering is key.

Start with a simple tank, tee, or lightweight top and add a shacket, denim jacket  or lightweight sweater. You can easily remove a layer if the afternoon warms up and add it back when temperatures drop in the evening.

Plus, layers make it easy to create a cute fall outfit without overthinking it.

Try a Western-Inspired Look

If there is ever a time to lean into Western-inspired fashion, it's at the Oklahoma State Fair.

Try pairing your favorite jeans with Western boots, a simple top, and a denim or suede jacket. Add a belt, statement jewelry, or a fun bag to finish the look.

You don't have to go full Western to get the vibe. Even one or two Western-inspired pieces can make a classic fall outfit feel perfect for the fair.

Keep It Casual With Denim

You can never go wrong with denim at the fair.

Try straight-leg jeans with a fitted tee and cardigan, wide-leg jeans with a sweater, or denim shorts if the October weather is still warm.

For an easy fall outfit inspiration look, pair your denim with sneakers, a crossbody bag, and a few simple accessories.

Don't Forget the Accessories

A cute fair outfit is all about the details.

Add a baseball cap, statement earrings, layered necklaces, a crossbody bag, or a fun pair of sunglasses. A hands-free bag is especially helpful when you're walking around, riding attractions, and carrying fair food.

And of course, a cute outfit deserves a few photos!
