A big dilemma people face when shoe shopping is when an amazing shoe comes in multiple colors, which color do you buy!? Will I wear the black more or brown more? Which color more easily fits my style and wardrobe? We will officially go on the record and say – BOTH! Finding the right finishing touches to an outfit can be difficult! See how we made five different outfits versatile to brown or black booties.
Use Colors & Accessories to Help Decide
Start with the colors in your outfit. Both neutral and bright colors are easy to pair with a black or a brown bootie! With this look, you have two subtle components; this fun off the shoulder knit top from Blu Pepper with a black and white stripe detail and these cute olive green moto skinnies. We LOVE these gorgeous Steve Maden Ankle booties. If you choose the brown booties, tie them in with a gold statement necklace. If you go with black, try a black velvet choker like this Vanessa Mooney necklace.
Dress it Up or Down?
The same outfit can be dressed up with a black leather bootie or dressed down with the same bootie in brown! The brown just gives your outfit an overall relaxed feel, while most of the time, black can make an outfit look more polished. Here are a couple of outfits to show you what we mean.
This cute denim skirt paired with a colorful blouse is a great canvas to illustrate what a black vs brown bootie can do to your look. The Dolce Vita Jasper bootie looks great with this outfit in both colors. The tan gives it a more relaxed feel while the black makes it a bit dressier.
How about this look? These Clark booties are comfortable and pretty. Paired with this Free People Dress, each color sparks a subtle difference in the outfits overall style!
Look at the Details!
Whether you should pair brown or black with your outfit depends on the vibe that you're going for! Be sure to look at the details in the outfit! We’re all heart eyes for this beautifully detailed embroidered Entro top. Let it inspire your whole outfit! Are you feeling more “flower child”? Go with the taupe. How about more “Hippy Chic? Choose the black!
We love shoes..if you hadn’t already guessed that. Sometimes, they SHOULD be the focal point of your outfit. Contrasting your shoe color with the overall color of your outfit can add a lot of interest and uniqueness to your look. And people will definitely notice your great looking shoes! Try pairing a black top with a pair of brown booties. It can spice up the outfit and give it a more versatile look! Contrasting can be powerful, but so can a “blackout”. This all black ensemble is polished and perfect for a night out.
